Christians follow the example of the Lord Jesus who was himself baptised. The Bible teaches that baptism as an outward sign and public profession of our new life in Jesus, washes our sins away (Acts 22:16). Full immersion in water is not only a symbol of Jesus’s death and resurrection, a supernatural act takes place when we get baptised – in baptism we submerge our old life under the water and rise up to a new life made possible through Christ:
Romans 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Baptism is a step that Christians take early on in their journey of faith. It is a foundation from which we move forward into maturity in Christ. Please speak to Petrina Roberts who runs our New Believers Course to register and to help you decide if you are ready to be baptised or attend our next baptism service.
